Yesterday the latest Service Operation Vessel by Bernhard Schulte arrived in the Eemshaven. For the next 10 years, the port will serve as a main base for the vessel while it is working at the German Merkur offshore wind farm.
The German wind farm, located some 28 miles off the Borkum island comprises 66 Haliade 150-6MW turbines. GE is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the turbines. It contracted the vessel from Bernhard Schulte for this purpose. The company has a maintenance base in Eemshaven from it will perform the work. It has contracted DHSS to act as the vessel agent and port logistics.
The vessel with the X-STERN® hull shape was built by Ulstein Verft in Norway. It is 93.4 m long and 18 m wide and can accommodate up to 120 persons. Over the next few weeks it will undergo test operations.
